12 Easy Dog Drawing Ideas 🐶

I'll admit I haven't spent a lot of time drawing doggies so this post was a lot of fun for me to do.

My favourite is the cute little round one (see if you can find him) 🐶

Easy cartoon dog

I like the fact that this little doggy has turned up in overalls, or is it dungarees? Either way, he looks pretty pleased with himself.

Cute kawaii dog

I was half-tempted to colour this dog in pastel pink to go with his super-cute kawaii eyes but decided to go with this (disappointing) brown colour instead.

Bluey-inspired Dog drawing

I don't think I could have done this post without including some kind of reference to Bluey...plus, it is nice to draw a more square-shaped Dog.

Sleeping Puppy

I don't think I would look this cute if I fell asleep on the floor. I also don't think 'ZZZ' would emanate from me either 😂

The thing I like about these sleeping dogs is not having to think about the body, just draw some paws and you are done ✅

Dog with it's tongue out

This is an unusual Dog drawing but I actually really like it for that - it's different. Putting the two (dot-shaped) eyes on one side of the head is a personal favourite of mine too.

I am very much at home sketching like this. I find it even more relaxing as I am not worried about the lines being misshapen or "out of place". I can just sketch quickly and enjoy the process. Plus he is ROCKING that bowtie!

What could be simpler than a circle with ears, dot-eyes and a simple mouth? Viola - you have a very easy dog drawing.

My favourite!

This was the little guy I was talking about. I know I didn't include any fur but he looks like he would be soooooo soft and cuddly. Not to mention he'd be very happy to see me.

Why so worried?

I was stuck as to whether I should make this puppy look worried or pleased. I went with worried in the end and I think it has paid off. This one is really nice to draw because the shapes are straightforward.

Is this a dog?

Ok, this was almost a cat but I changed the ears and took off the whiskers and I found myself looking at a simple dog drawing. One happy little accident.

Profile of a Labrador

I was thinking about my Aunty's old labrador when I drew this. A simple line drawing that captures the shape of a dog without much else going on.

Dog Drawing Tips

So much of the dogs are in the ears and mouth. Explore the different shapes of the body too. You will find that you can quickly turn a random shape into a dog just by giving it the right ears and mouth - eyes can be lines, dots or massive kawaii-style ones it doesn't really matter.
